This awesome mover is a true mind, body, and spirit healer. When she’s not busy kicking our ASS in a hot yoga class, Kirstin Ford is offering up some real deep down feel good practices through things like Reiki and sound therapy. She is one fierce lady that we are incredibly excited to have at our Self Care Day Urban Retreat on July 24th, providing a very special sound bath! Get to know Kirstin below!:
Moved LA: How would you describe yourself?
Kirstin: I'm a safe space for you to unfold, stretch, fall apart and rise. In my healing practice, my highest intention is that you feel at ease in your body, your bones and skin. I want you to feel good. Not the kind that looks pretty and shiny, but the kind that settles into the cracks and crevices making you feel whole.
Moved LA: What’s your story?
Kirstin: As an artist, I’ve always sought experiences that filled me with joy. From my earliest days, that was dancing, singing & acting & it carried into adulthood. The industry was depleting & I ignored signs from my body that I needed a shift. In 2017, my health forced that shift. Everything turned upside down, but on the other side of surgery was a new path. One of tremendous honesty, emotional vulnerability & conviction about my life’s purpose to help heal the World. I offer clients healing through Reiki + Sound Therapy + NeuroPyshcoImmunoligy, all of which were sacred aspects of my own healing.
Moved LA: Why do you do this work?
Kirstin: My driving purpose is to help you discover that health is not just about your physical body. Health is a synergy between Mind+Body+Spirit. Your Body is Mind and Spirit’s means of communication. The messages your body is sending you are sacred and deserve your full attention. The messages your mind is sending you are powerful and warrant observation. The messages your Higher Self is sending you are divine and worthy of your faith. You are a trinity filled with infinite possibility.
Moved LA: Who is your role model, and why?
Kirstin: I’ve always had an affinity for historical and mythological female figures and what they symbolize, like Mary Magdalene, Isis, Antigone…strong-willed and powerful women in their own right. I often look to them, their words and actions, as guide posts, encouragement and reminders of what women were capable of during periods of history when being a woman was a detriment.
Moved LA: If you could give everyone one piece of advice on their health and wellness, what would it be?
Kirstin: Start your day reflecting on what you're grateful for, end your day with forgiveness for yourself and others, and have the courage to look, listen and feel and then act. And share your most authentic self with the world without shame or guilt. Is that one? LOL.
Moved LA: If you could have one super power, what would it be?
Kirstin: The ability to fly and just for fun! I'm content discovering the powers I already have access to, but aren't totally aware of or confident in yet ; )
Moved LA: What are you top three favorite things to do when you have time off?
Kirstin: Time in Nature, Reading and Painting.
Moved LA: Who are the top 3 people/companies you are following to stay informed?
Kirstin: For functional movement and range of motion, @justinwolferyoga. For spiritual empowerment and a lot of love, @kelseyjpatel. I also follow several herbalism, meditation and functional doctor accounts for when I need data, resources and fresh ideas!
Moved LA: What’s up next for you?
