Hey Movers! This Monday we are excited to introduce you to this vibrant artist. She performs standup comedy and has also painted over 100 thousand faces in her career. She thrives on interacting with her community and sharing her talents with others, which has been a new and different experience as of late with how much the way we do that has changed this year. We can certainly relate to the challenges of adapting your art right now that’s impacted and driven by personal interactions, and we imagine many more of you do as well! So please check out her art and read on about the bright and lively spirit, Michelle Johnson.

Moved LA: How would you describe yourself?

Michelle: Initiator of the stand-up face paint comedian vibe in Maryland!

Moved LA: What’s your story? How did you get started? What do you do?

Michelle: 30 Years, 100k faces painted, I've performed at farms, churches, ballparks, festivals, birthday parties, schools, and everywhere else people gather to celebrate! When I started face painting the public in 1991! It was because of the prompting of a family friend who was like a grandmother to me, Ellen ("Miss Olins") suggesting that I bring my paints out on weekends where we gave autumn/fall/Halloween tours to school kids during the week. This work is my calling and continues, albeit differently as I age (with great anticipation) and emulate Ellen! Deceased since 1994

Moved LA: Who is your role model, and why?

Michelle: Old women. They're resourceful, unflappable, and wear aprons!!

Moved LA: If you could give everyone one piece of advice about living with more intention, what would it be?

Michelle: Go For Feeling Good In Each Moment Of Your Existence

Moved LA: If you could have a superpower, what would it be? Why?

Michelle: Superhero Butterfly Warrior!! Recognizing the blessing of all stages...egg.caterpillar.chrysalis.Butterfly!!

Moved LA: What are your top three favorite things to do when you need to relax and have fun?

Michelle: Swim. Read. Walk.

Moved LA: Who are the top three people/companies you're following online to stay informed?

Michelle: Marianne Williamson. Abraham Hicks. Frank Herbert's DUNE Series (I'm halfway through book 5 of 6)

Moved LA: What is up next for you and your company?

Michelle: I painted my last face on Friday, March 6, 2020. I completely thrived on interacting with the public! I am more of an introvert than I knew, so I am enjoying re-imagining how I sell my produced art and seminars vs how I was paid to publicly face paint. Tech Is No Longer The Boss Of Me!! I am making peace with this digital landscape…

If you would like to keep up with our lively and wonderful Michelle, you can visit her website and her Facebook, Patreon, Youtube, and LinkedIn
